Capture The Flag
The OG multiplayer game mode — now with actual running.

Capture the flag is one of the oldest team games on Earth, and it maps perfectly to video game CTF modes. Two teams, two flags, one objective: grab theirs, protect yours. You need speed, strategy, and the willingness to sacrifice yourself as a distraction. It works in parks, beaches, or anywhere with space to sprint.
How to start
- 1Gather 6+ people and split into two teams. More players = more chaos.
- 2Mark two territories with clear boundaries. Place a flag (bandana, shirt, anything) in each.
- 3Standard rules: grab the enemy flag, bring it to your base. If tagged in enemy territory, you're frozen.
- 4Assign roles: defenders, attackers, distractors. Communication wins games.
- 5Play at dusk with glow sticks for a night-mode variant.

Plot twists
Ways to spice this up when the basics get boring.
- Night mode: play in the dark with only glow sticks to track players.
- Add 'power-ups' — hidden items on the field that grant temporary immunity.
- Play in a wooded area for stealth mechanics. Sneaking > sprinting.
- Three-team variant: triple the chaos, triple the paranoia.
- Add a 'jail' zone — tagged players go to jail until a teammate frees them.
ADHD notes
Pure action, minimal downtime. Your brain switches between strategy and sprinting so fast there's no room for distraction.
Fun fact
Capture the flag has been a staple of summer camps since the early 1900s. Its video game counterpart first appeared in the 1990s in games like Quake.
