Geocaching is a real-world scavenger hunt with over 3 million hidden containers worldwide. Each 'cache' has GPS coordinates, a logbook, and sometimes tiny trinkets. You sign the log, maybe swap a trinket, put it back exactly where you found it.
How to start
- 1Make a free account at geocaching.com.
- 2Open the map. Yes, there's one near you right now.
- 3Pick an easy cache (difficulty 1, terrain 1).
- 4Walk there. Search. Don't look suspicious.
- 5Sign the log. Put it back. Try not to grin too hard.

Plot twists
Ways to spice this up when the basics get boring.
- Only hunt caches you can walk to — no car.
- Hide your own cache in a meaningful spot.
- Bring a 'travel bug' trinket with a goal written on it (e.g. 'get me to Japan').
ADHD notes
Micro-quests with clear completion. Every find is a dopamine hit. Works even on a 20-minute walk.
Fun fact
The very first geocache was hidden in Oregon on May 3, 2000. It's still active, now a memorial.
