The original Uber Eats, minus the Uber and Eats.

Foraging is identifying and collecting wild edible plants and mushrooms. It's part hike, part puzzle, part 'oh god did I just eat that.' Start with easy IDs: blackberries, dandelions, nettles. Save mushrooms for after a year of experience β€” or a trusted mentor.

How to start

  1. 1
Download Seek (by iNaturalist) or PictureThis.
  2. 2
Walk in a park. Photograph 10 plants. Learn their names.
  3. 3
Find ONE edible plant you're 100% sure of. Eat a bit.
  4. 4
Buy a regional foraging field guide.
  5. 5
Find a local foraging walk β€” guides spot things you won't for years.

  • Cook one meal where every ingredient is foraged.
ADHD notes

Hunting-brain mode: focused, dopamine-driven scanning. Plus you get free snacks. Plus you're outside.

Fun fact

Dandelions were brought to North America intentionally by European settlers as food crops. Now we call them weeds.
