The combination of skating skill, team strategy, and physical contact creates sensory-rich engagement. The league community provides built-in accountability and social structure.
Roller derby was revived in 2001 in Austin, Texas by a group of women who wanted a sport that was fierce, inclusive, and fun. Today there are over 1,500 leagues worldwide.
